Create and organize company Spaces
Establish the work areas your team will use.
Organization Owners and Admins create the department Spaces. A Member cannot create a Space merely because they can edit a project or have project-creation authority.
Create the department
- Open Spaces in the intended organization.
- Use the New space action in the Spaces navigation.
- Enter a recognizable department name, such as Marketing, Finance, or Service Delivery, and complete the dialog.
- Create projects directly in the Space or use folders to organize larger groups.
- Open Team to configure who should use the department’s work.
Set up the people separately
For each contributor, configure Space access or specific project access. Then use Project creation governance to choose the Member’s primary department and any explicit creation exceptions.
The new department can be used as a creation destination when it is eligible and active. Selecting it as a person’s primary department does not share the department’s existing work. Likewise, sharing one project does not authorize creation of new projects there.
Check the employee experience
Ask a Member to open an intended project and perform an allowed update. If they should create projects, check their department’s New Project action as a separate test. Use Inventory to inspect the effective access to a specific Space or project when the result is unexpected.
Personal unpublished projects are a separate working state. Employees can prepare eligible work there and publish it into an authorized department. The underlying system-managed location is not a department to create, rename, or assign to staff.
