I cannot see, create, or edit the work I need
Identify the blocked action before changing permissions.
Start by naming the exact action: opening a Space, opening a project, creating a project, publishing, editing a task, or using an Operations feature. These actions use different controls.
Check these first
Confirm the signed-in account and organization. Open the intended area, then clear search and view filters. Try the exact project or task link if you have it; a link helps identify the resource but does not grant access.
| Symptom | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Spaces is unavailable | Membership and Spaces area access. |
| A department is missing or empty | Effective Space access, project access, blocks, and navigation context. A primary department alone is not a share. |
| A shared project opens but its department’s other projects do not | The project may have a direct grant. Check its own roster and the Space roster separately. |
| I can edit an existing project but cannot create another | Primary department and explicit creation exceptions. |
| Publish to Space has no destinations | Eligible active departments and your effective creation authority. |
| I can create at the Space’s top level but not in a folder | The additional Space write requirement for the folder operation. |
| I can read a task but cannot change its attributes | Organization role, project write access, assignment policy, and cancellation state. |
| I can update my task but cannot assign someone else | Self-or-manager policy and your project management level. |
| Mine is empty but Team has work | Task assignment and the selected audience, not necessarily missing access. |
| An Operations page or action is unavailable | Operations access, minimum organization role, scope, enabled module, and action-specific rules. |
Ask an administrator to inspect the right resource
Provide the organization, project or Space name, link, exact action, and error text. In Team’s Inventory, the administrator should inspect the affected resource’s effective access. Stored overrides, department fields, and summary counts are supporting evidence, not substitutes for that result.
If a Space is blocked, inspect its retained project overrides before unblocking. If a project override is removed, check whether another access source remains. If the account is Owner or Admin, ordinary member restrictions may not describe its behavior.
If access looks correct
Refresh after saved permission changes, retry the exact action once, and preserve the error if it continues. Report the time, account, resource, and steps to support. Do not create duplicate projects or tasks to work around an unexplained visibility problem.
